Pool length — the first thing to check

The range is almost threefold: from 19 meters at Chekhov Sport Club in Tashkent to a full 50 meters (Olympic length) at the JAR complex in Tashkent and the Delfin pool in Navoi. 25 meters is the standard, as at the Olympic Sport Complex in Tashkent and the municipal pool in Navoi. Lane length isn't recorded for every venue yet, so if you're training for competition, confirm it on the pool's page or by phone.

Year-round or summer only

19 of the 20 sport pools operate year-round — this is a category where seasonality is barely an issue. The only exception is Yoshlik in Tashkent, open in summer only.

Coaching and other amenities

• Coach or instructor — at 16 of 20 venues: most sport pools are sport schools with staff coaches.
• Parking — at 17 venues.
• Kids' zone — at only 3, though many sport schools run children's swim groups; that's worth checking separately.
• Sauna — at 2 venues; this category focuses on the water rather than extra amenities.

Which regions to look in

The surprise leader is Navoi with 6 venues, more than Tashkent (4). Khorezm matches Tashkent at 4, followed by Kashkadarya (3), Bukhara (2) and Samarkand (1).

How much it costs

Pricing is filled in for only a small share of venues. As a reference: at the Olympic Sport Complex in Tashkent a single visit is 60,000 UZS, a morning session 40,000, a monthly membership 450,000 and a group class 35,000 UZS.
