Khorezm Region has seven hotel pools — level with Bukhara and Samarkand, the highest count in the country. The reason is simple: Khiva and Urgench live on tourism, and a hotel pool is often the only place to swim here. But not one of the seven publishes its prices.
Khiva and Urgench
Four venues are in Urgench: Bravo Lyuks on Gafur Gulyam street, Antalya Grand Palace on Khonka street, Khorezm Palace Hotel on Al-Biruni street and Hotel Karavan on Khanka street. Three are in Khiva — Hotel Farovon Khiva, Hotel Asia Khiva and Khiva Residence Hotel — next to Ichan-Kala, where the tourists go. The region's best-equipped venue is Antalya Grand Palace in Urgench: a spa area, sauna, gym, restaurant, bar and conference room.
What to check before you travel
- None of the seven venues has pricing on file — that's the main thing to ask about by phone in advance.
- Two pools are seasonal, both in Khiva: Hotel Asia Khiva and Khiva Residence Hotel run in the warm season only. The other five are year-round.
- Whether outside visitors are admitted is each hotel's own call. It's the norm in this category but not a guarantee, so ask about it along with the price.
- Parking is available at all seven venues, Wi-Fi at five, a restaurant at three, and a children's zone only at Hotel Karavan.
